God Provides
We are
overexposed to choices. Every day someone will try to tell us that we need one
more thing in order to make our lives complete. Advertisements tell us that we
should be dissatisfied with what we have, that we need something different. The
truth is, when we find what works, or what is right, or what we like, no one
should be able to tell us that we're wrong. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth,
and the life, and no one and nothing can ever take His place. We are already
Kingdom people. There's no reason to try anything else.
However
you need to.……
“Be
strong... when I depart from this world, people will persecute you. If they do,
will you deny Christ?”
His
voice shook as he whispered these final words. Sonia replied, “How can I leave
Christ? Be assured, I will not deny Him, even if He chooses to take you home.”
Minutes later, Sonia’s beloved husband died in her arms.
Sonia
and her husband had already endured quite a journey of faith – and her faith
was soon to experience its hardest test yet. They had been the first in their
Hindu families to walk with Jesus. Despite being rejected by their relatives,
they grew closer to Him. “This was a hope-filling time. For the first time, I
felt a positive future for us and our nine children!” shares Sonia.
But life
changed abruptly after her husband’s death. “Why didn’t your God prevent my son
from dying?” Sonia’s mother-in-law hurled angry accusations. “You killed your
husband. You Christians are responsible. You can do whatever you want, but you
do not have a right to anything from my family.”
Sonia’s
mother-in-law then instigated an attack by the village women. For nearly an
hour, they viciously beat her with poles. Then her in-laws filed suit to get
control of Sonia’s house and property. During the court proceeding, Sonia
refused to renounce Christ and lost everything. Sonia and her nine children
found themselves homeless and fatherless. But, they had not lost the most
important relationship of all - Christ. “I did not choose God. God chose me,”
says Sonia. “Let them take my house; I am happy. God provides!"
Jesus is
our Hope.
When
discouragement sets in and you feel unheard, when you are forced to wait on
God, when you find yourself caught between faith and a hard place, when there
is nothing there—no evidence of God’s miracle on the horizon—remember that God
is faithful, powerful, and responsive. He has seen you through trials in the
past, and He will see you through trials in the future. Even in the challenges
you face now, you are seen, you are heard. Choose today to trust the God of
your Hope.
May the
God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in him, so that you
may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.(Romans 15:13)
